They later discover that they are trapped in a 1994 Prison World. During that time, they start to bond and form a close alliance to take down Kai.
As the series progressed, Alaric became a surrogate father to Elena and Jeremy, making Davis an integral part of the main cast. Though Alaric’s relationship history was turbulent , Davis has a very romantic love story in real-life. They may have no children, or they could have one, two, or more children. Overall, fans of the show can continue to enjoy the complicated and dramatic love story of Elena and Damon without worrying about a surprise baby plot twist. The series may be over, but their epic romance will undoubtedly live on as a beloved part of pop culture. Concluding at four seasons, Legacies was not able to match the durability of its parent show, The Vampire Diaries, which ran for eight seasons, and fellow TVD spinoff, The Originals, which ran for five seasons. In the world of Vampire Diaries, several characters have undergone a transformation from being a vampire, werewolf or hybrid into a human.
When Stefan returns, Elena asks Damon and Stefan to work with her to help protect Fell’s Church from the mysterious Other Power who killed her and caused the animal attack. Stefan is more reluctant at first but eventually agrees it’s not Damon either as well. Meredith is startled to see Elena because she only half-believed that Elena was alive. Elena enlists them into her plan to hunt down the Other Power and save Fell’s Church. When Elena “died,” she had some of Damon’s blood in her system, which turned her into a vampire. When Elena and Damon were trapped he gave her some of his blood to survive.

She states that Damon disappeared shortly after Elena’s funeral, and she and the others drove Stefan to the airport. Bonnie sums up Elena’s character, and wraps up the trilogy, by saying Elena was not perfect but in the end was unselfish enough to die to save the entire town of Fell’s Church. When Elena Gilbert wakes up and enters the clearing where her new fiancé, Stefan, is fighting to kill his brother Damon because he believes Damon killed Elena, Stefan is at first unbelieving. He then realizes that Elena is not miraculously alive but has instead been transformed into a vampire because Stefan fed Elena his blood to strengthen her after him drinking from her. For her part, Elena is extremely confused because of her transformation and therefore, suffers from a loss of memory and amnesia. Elena does not recognize Stefan at first and believes that she is in love with Damon instead.
He also points out to her that she once turned back from finding Stefan since she knew Damon would be in danger, clearly showing that she also has feelings for him. This causes a rift between Elena and Stefan whereas the relationship between Damon and Elena becomes closer and more intimate. A still loyal Elena, however, refuses to admit her feelings for Damon.
Each season brought something new for the potential romances, but Damon and Elena’s relationship took a while to get off the ground. The two may have started out hating each other, but by the end ofThe Vampire Diaries,they were deeply in love. Damon and Elena’s love story was full of twists and turns, yet every step they took brought them closer to each other.
